Many thanks to Jean Phillips friends from the British Legion for lending us and putting up our Gazebo for our stall at this years Village Show.

There was plenty on offer to enjoy ... including the youngsters dancing

As well as raising money for our WI charities we certainly enjoyed the show as the photo below shows clearly

We've been framed!!

It was also nice to see fellow High Green WI member Lynn Bell win 'best in painting' section as well as overall winner of Best in Show.  Well done Lynn from all Thorpe Members.

A big thank you to all members who baked or helped in any way to make the show such a fantastic community event.

Village Noticeboard

We recently made a donation of £50 to Thorpe Hesley Community Forum towards the cost of the new village noticeboard near the Wesley Steps in the centre of Thorpe Hesley.  We can advertise all our activities there and we think it looks great.

Members have also been helping to create a small garden in the area to try and improve the general environment

We also send good wishes to Dorothy Waller for a speedy recovery - we miss her smiley face selling raffle tickets at each meeting!  Get well soon Dorothy.

                                                                    Dorothy and Joan

Don't forget your baking for the Village Show tomorrow - we will be setting up the stall from 9.30.

September Meeting - Yorkshire Humour with Keith Dyson

After what seemed a long time since our July party with so many summer activities the hall was packed with members as we gathered for our monthly meeting.
Mary went through a very busy diary of events for the months ahead before our birthday girls were given their cards and our best wishes.
Long serving committee member and current Vice-President Joan Egley was given a heartfelt round of applause as it was announced that she was standing down - we really do owe her a debt of gratitude for all she's done over the years.

Thanks Joan

Mary then introduced our speaker Keith Dyson who then entertained us with all 'things' Yorkshire - from accent, to people and places, traits and humour.  Yorkshire really is a county to be proud of.

Carolyn and Angela enjoying the presentation
Whilst Lancashire lass Carolyn chats to Keith and his wife our tea ladies for the evening get ready in the kitchen - with all that laughing we were ready for a cuppa!

Cheers Margaret and Sheila

A happy raffle winner

Everyone then enjoyed catching up with what had happened over the summer months before being reminded to get baking for the village show.

AGM next month with Pams' Pie n Peas!!

We'll be there!
