Federation Quiz 2017

Pat Henderson, Pat D Shaw, Dorothy Waller and Jayne Spaven made up Thorpe Hesley's team this year with the biggest entry ever of almost 40 teams at two venues.  Once we found a table there was the chance of some 'shopping' at the WI stall before the serious business of the night.

With questions on a Nautical theme, Pot Luck,  famous people, places and faces we soon got into our stride with Pat H proving an efficient scribe as we all scribbled suggested answers down and Pat tried to make sense of them.  After a low-scoring first round we ended up with a creditable score of 62 pts with Firbeck and letwell WI  in 3rd place with 66 pts,  Penistone with 67 pts and winners Ravenfield with 68 pts.  (So we didn't disgrace ourselves!)

After the quiz we enjoyed lovely refreshments provided by Whiston WI
and had the chance for a natter - both amongst ourselves as well as friends from other WI's.

A lovely Federation evening - well done Lorna and Team.

October Meeting - AGM

October's meeting is always one that is looked forward to as everyone enjoys Pam's wonderful homemade 'Pie n peas!'
After the business part of the meeting at which forthcoming events were discussed and  signed up for the AGM was carried out.  Mary had left a written report of the year and a visual display of activities was displayed for all to look at ...

.....then a slide-show of photos showing members enjoying all the Wednesday night meetings organised by our hard-working committee as well as the myriad of other activities we've been involved in.  What a busy year it's been!

Birthday wishes were given to Linda Simpson, Pam Knowles and Joan Egley - an unbelievable 80 years young!

A special raffle was held which raised an amazing £60 towards the fundraising campaign of the Village Forum for a bench to be erected near the Wesley Steps in Thorpe Hesley - well done to Ann Beckett for organising the raffle.

Our happy raffle winners

Thanks to Linda Simpson for joining the committee and also to Ann Marson who joins Sheila Lincoln as a greeter.

Good Luck to Pat Henderson, Pat Shaw, Jayne Spaven and Dorothy Waller for the Federation Quiz this Friday.
