Crafting for the Christmas Tree Festival

Mary once again had thought of some fantastic ideas for our tree based on this years theme of 'Gifts'.  She soon has us making stars ..... highlighting members own gifts .....

Carole and Ann hard at work

Sheila making lots of baby Jesus'

With the rest of the gang decorating presents and making the 'tinsel'
Doesn't it look good!

Thanks to Pat for making us all a cuppa and of course to Mary for all her preparations beforehand and best wishes to Carolyn and Sylvia as they decorate the tree.  I'm sure its going to look fantastic.

The History Wardrobe

Members along with others from the Rockley Group enjoyed a very interesting and informative presentation by Historian Lucy Adlington in Hoyland, all about clothing in the 1940's.
This included the wartime attitude of 'make-do-and-mend' , clothes ratings as well as home dressmaking.

The talk was an introduction to her new novel 'Red Ribbon' which is about a young seamstress in a German Concentration Camp in occupied Poland.  This was followed by an 'obligatory' WI Cream Tea!  Cheers!

Sybil and Angela

Another excellent Federation event.

November meeting - Crafting for Christmas

A productive evening was spent 'Crafting' with groups led by Sue Dixon (Santa Serviette holders), Linda Simpson (pot pourri bags), Jane Hore (Christmas candleholders) and Mary Wilman (Christmas tree parcels).  It looks to have been a nice relaxed evening and thanks to Sybil for the photos.

June and Pat happy with their efforts

Ann and Sheila concentrating hard

Carolyn and Angela -' busy bees'

Margaret Atter made some lovely cards to sell in aid of the Alzheimers Society .....

...... whilst Sybil and Jennifer provided the heard-earned refreshments.

Don't forget next weeks 'Night at the Dogs'  (Tuesday 7th) plus crafting for the Christmas Tree Festival on the 15th November.
