Spring Meeting

A small group of members travelled to the Horizon College, Barnsley to attend this years SYWI Federations Spring Meeting.

All agreed the speakers were excellent, and a good time was had by all.

Well done to the Federation for organising such an enjoyable and informative event.

Weston Park Coffee Morning

The church was decorated   .......     the cakes arrived .....

........ and the tables set ....

....... Sybil had set up her stall and the raffle ticket sellers were ready .....

as we went outside for a quick photo-call before visitors came - and came they did in vast numbers.

Our 'hostesses' coped with WI calmness and finesse .....

........ whilst other members chatted to our guests and enjoyed the music of the Escafeld Players who gave their time willingly once again support a worthy local charity.

The raffle was drawn with a little help from Elythia

and the tidying up began - cheers ladies! Many hands really do make light work.

Mary and Sue then started counting up the donations - a massive total of £785 which with gift-aid came to £850 - an amazing total.

Well done ladies - another hugely successful community venture in memory of absent friends.

The Great Litter Pick

As part of a whole village and community venture, WI members joined in with over 100 other residents in a village litter-pick as part of RMBC's 'Love Where You Live Campaign'.

We were provided with all the necessary equipment and spent a sunny Sunday morning collecting over 300 bags of rubbish!

April Meeting - Flowers with Victoria

The TCC was packed out with ladies in their Easter finery ...... with Sybil, Angela and 'honorary' member Eleithyia amongst the first to arrive.

We were all given a 'free' raffle ticket by our speaker for the evening, local florist Victoria Firth.  She gave us a heart-warming explanation of how she came to give up her Nursing career following the death of her husband to follow her dream of opening a flower shop and how her dream had turned into a very successful reality.
She gave us a demonstration of how to make a successful bouquet of flowers which was won as a raffle prize by Dorothy.

After a lively 'question and answer' session Victoria kindly offered to judge our Easter Bonnet parade which was won by Shelagh with Ann as runner-up - we all agreed with her choice the bonnets were superb!

After the business part of the meeting we then enjoyed wonderful refreshments served by our resident 'tea-bunnies'  .....

Coffee morning for Weston Park on the 14th April.

All in all a really lovely evening - thanks Victoria.
(Not forgetting our hard-working committee!)
