The hottest day of the year!! As we gathered in the Trinity Centre for our July meeting with the doors and windows all open to try and get some respite from the heat, we enjoyed a really entertaining presentation from Beryl and Barbara (guides from Nostell Priory) listening to tales from 'yesteryear' regarding home-made remedies for minor ailments plus hints on housekeeping.

Beryl demonstrating how to cure a headache, toothache and earache as well as getting rid
of wrinkles at the same time!!
Barbara explaining how we'd have done the housework many years ago
Everyday remedies - why visit the chemist!!
Learning things we never knew!
Thank goodness for Spring Onions says Carolyn!!
After the vote of thanks and a well deserved round of applause we settled down to the business part of the meeting. Best wishes were sent to Benda Allott, Jean Phillip, Pam Barraclough and Joan Egley who were all suffering ill-health. The birthday girls Alison, Jayne and Marjorie received their cards then it was time for a well deserved cuppa and cake courtesy of Barbara and Beryl - and of course Strawberries!!
A happy raffle winner ....
Next month's meeting ..... our Centenary Party 1920's style!! Don't forget to get dressed up Ladies!!
